Home Battery Backup Systems in White Settlement
We install battery backup that picks up your essential circuits within moments of a grid outage, with no fuel and no engine noise. We size it to the loads you actually run, wire it to code, and come back after startup to confirm it performs the way we planned.
What a Battery Backup System Does for Your Home
A home battery stores grid power and releases it through an inverter when the utility drops out. A backup gateway or transfer device senses the loss, opens the connection to the grid so nothing feeds back onto the lines, and lets the battery carry your home. Most people notice a flicker, or nothing at all.
Two numbers decide what a system can do. Storage, in kilowatt-hours, sets how long it runs. Output, in kilowatts, sets how much it can power at once, including the brief surge when an air conditioner compressor or well pump starts. A battery with plenty of storage but too little output can still trip off the moment the AC kicks on, which is why we start with your loads, not a product brochure.
Battery backup is the right call when you want quiet, automatic power for the essentials and no fuel to store. If you need to run a whole house with central air for days, a standby unit from our Generator Installation page may fit better, and we will tell you which one suits your home.
What the Installation Includes
Load review and sizing
We go through your panel circuit by circuit and note what you need during an outage: refrigerator, freezer, lights, internet, a medical device, maybe one AC unit. From that list we work out the output and storage the system needs.
Critical loads subpanel or whole-home setup
Smaller systems usually feed a separate critical loads subpanel, so we move the chosen circuits into it. Larger systems can back the whole panel through a gateway, with load management to keep big appliances from overrunning the inverter.
Battery and inverter mounting
We mount the battery and inverter with the clearances the manufacturer and code require, on a garage wall or an outdoor-rated location. We keep units out of direct afternoon sun where we can, because lithium cells lose capacity and age faster when they run hot.
Wiring, bonding and labeling
Conductors are sized for the inverter output, run in proper conduit, and terminated at the specified torque. Disconnects and panels are labeled so you and any future electrician can see what is fed from where.
Permit, inspection and utility coordination
We pull the permit and schedule the inspection as required by the local jurisdiction, and we handle coordination with the utility where it applies.

When a Home Battery Is Worth Considering
- An outage means lost food or lost work
- When a few dark hours spoil the freezer or cut off your workday, a battery running the fridge, router and a handful of circuits fills that gap on its own.
- Someone in the home depends on powered equipment
- CPAP machines, oxygen concentrators and medication that must stay cold cannot wait for someone to pull-start a generator. A battery takes over with no one lifting a finger.
- You would rather not deal with fuel
- A portable generator means gas cans, cords to string and a safe outdoor spot. A battery gives off no exhaust, so it can be mounted in the garage or on the house wall.
- Storms keep cutting your power
- Thunderstorms and the odd ice storm in North Texas cause outages of several hours or more. A properly sized battery carries your essentials through the usual short outage and lasts longer when you cut back on loads.
How the Job Runs, From First Visit to Follow-Up
- 1
Service visit and panel check
We look at your main panel, its rating and available space, and where the battery can safely go. If the panel is full, damaged or undersized, we explain whether a change from our Panel Upgrades service is needed first, and why.
- 2
Written plan and permit
You get the system size, the circuits it will back and the mounting location in writing before work starts. We then file for the permit.
- 3
Installation day
Most installs take a day or two. Power to your home is shut off for part of that time while we land conductors in the panel, and we tell you in advance roughly when, so you can plan around it.
- 4
Commissioning and a live test
We set the backup reserve, run firmware updates and pull the grid supply to simulate an outage. You watch the switchover happen and see which circuits stay on.
- 5
Follow-up check on the system
Once the system has run for a few weeks, we follow up to review how it has behaved, look at the charge history in the app, and adjust the reserve level or load settings if something is off. We also walk you through care: keep vents and clearances open, leave the firmware on automatic updates, and watch for fault notices.
What Moves the Price of a Battery System
Battery backup pricing depends mostly on how much your home needs to run and how much electrical work it takes to connect it. We give you a written estimate after the service visit, once we know your loads and your panel. Here is what changes the number.
- Storage and output
- More kilowatt-hours and a higher continuous output cost more. Covering central air pushes both up, so deciding whether the AC is backed is often the biggest single choice.
- Critical loads or whole-home
- A critical loads subpanel means moving circuits and adding a panel. Whole-home backup needs a gateway and often load control devices for the range, dryer or AC.
- Panel condition
- An older or full panel may need replacement or upgrade before a battery can connect safely. Corroded lugs or a worn main breaker get addressed first.
- Location and wire run
- A battery mounted beside the panel needs short runs. A unit on the far side of the house, or one that needs trenching or a long conduit run, adds material and labor.
Battery Backup Questions We Hear Often
- How long will a battery run my home during an outage?
- It depends on what is drawing power. A fridge, lights, internet and a few outlets use far less than central air or an electric range. During the service visit we estimate run time from your actual circuits, and once the system is running the app shows real usage so you can see how long you would last.
- Can a battery run my central air conditioner?
- Sometimes, if the inverter can handle the compressor's starting surge and the storage is large enough. A soft starter on the AC can cut that surge and make it workable on a smaller system. We check the unit's nameplate before we promise anything.
- Is a battery better than a standby generator?
- They solve different problems. A battery is silent, needs no fuel and switches over instantly, but it holds a fixed amount of energy. A standby generator runs as long as it has fuel. Some homes pair a battery for short outages with a generator for long ones.
- What maintenance does a home battery need?
- Very little hands-on care. Keep the clearances around it free of storage boxes, keep vents clean, let firmware update, and respond to any fault alerts in the app. When we check back on the system, we show you what normal readings look like so an odd one stands out.
- Should I add surge protection with a battery?
- It is a sensible pairing. The inverter and gateway contain electronics that do not like voltage spikes from storms or utility switching. A whole-home device from our Surge Protection service at the panel helps protect them along with the rest of your home.

Find Out What Your Home Needs to Stay Powered
We will review your panel and your must-run circuits, then lay out a battery system sized to them. Once it is running, we check back to make sure it holds up the way we planned.
